Always with a cold cup of water

Sitting here,
sitting over there,
sitting somewhere where the chair is uncomfortable.

Crossing my legs,
back of calve pressed firm to knee,
perfect red oval when they uncross.

Ankles tucked,
fitting like two crescent moons together,
two crescent rolls together,
fitting.

Hands in lap,
fingers intertwined,
nail polish hard and slick and clacking together
tapping, tapping, tapping.

Sitting here,
somewhere uncomfortable,
somewhere comfortable,
with or without.

Always with a cold cup of water.
