Riley welch is a poet from texas living in Denver. She posts three original poems a week.

Think about times in my own mind when I lost track,
what did I gain when I decided not to write a poem down
when I couldn't sleep and I knew it would have come
if I had opened my glaring laptop light
and typed until my eyes fell soft and low
emptying my brain has always
been the best sleeping remedy for me
and in my stubborness
I allowed words to get lost.
