The Hummingbird Collection

I had the luxury of 3/4 a tank of gas.
It was a luxury because I knew I could make it to my next payday without filling up.
This meant I could indulge in my favorite pastime,

I queued up some songs,
a few by Johnny Cash.

and rolled down my drivers side window,
even though it was 48 degrees out.

I took the long way home.
My favorite way goes straight west on Drake.
You get the perfect view of Horsetooth.

As I rounded the corner,
I came to the realization that in the middle of the night,
those three teeth can't be seen.
You need light.

Luckily, I could still see the three windows of my most admired mountain house,
they made three perfect twinkles in the distance.
Connecting an isosceles triangle.

The bottom side and the top right side were the same length.

Some nights I drive by and the mountains are completely dark.
I feel glad when they are illuminated.
